Saamanyudu is an action drama directed by the debutant filmmaker, Thu Pa Saravanan. Having Vishal and Dimple Hayathi as the lead pair, the movie has hit the screens worldwide today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Raised in a middle-class family, Porus (Vishal) wishes to join the Police department. His father, a Policeman, blindly follows the orders of his superiors and is afraid to go against rich people. Unfortunately, one day, someone kills Porus’ sister, Dwaraka (Raveena Ravi). Porus begins a search to find out the culprit. Besides, Anwar (Baburaj) wants to be an MP, and Parisuddham (Kumaravel) goes against him and his factory, which causes serious illnesses. Who killed Dwaraka? How did Porus find the culprit? What is the link between a middle-class girl and a rich person? Did Porus become a Policeman? The answers will be known only if we watch the flick on the big screens.
Plus Points:
Usually, audiences expect high-octane and realistic action sequences in Vishal’s movies. This film also has intense fighting scenes. Vishal’s performance is good and especially during the emotional scenes, he acted very well. Yogibabu’s character is hilarious and his comedy timing is phenomenal.
Dimple Hayathi’s role is okay. Raveena Ravi performed fine as a beloved sister to Vishal. The remaining actors delivered their best. Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the screenplay are the assets of the movie.
Minus Points:
Though the story and screenplay are good, the slow narrative will test your patience. The movie ran on a slow note in the first half and the same continued in the latter part. A racy screenplay would have made it an interesting movie. The film has some unnecessary scenes in the first half. The major drawback of the movie is its runtime. Baburaj’s character would have been elevated with powerful scenes to make audiences curious.
Technical Aspects:
Director Thu Pa Saravanan penned the story of Saamanyudu. He succeeded in delivering a good concept. The screenplay is one of the major highlights in the movie and you can witness them on screen. Yuvan’s music, especially in fight sequences, is fantastic. Visuals by Kavin Raj are good. Editing by N.B. Srikanth should have been crispy.
Verdict:
On the whole, Saamanyudu is a good movie to enjoy in theatres. Vishal’s power-packed performance, Yogibabu’s comedy, and the suspense in the second half make it a good watch. If you bear a few scenes and the slow narration, you can happily enjoy this action drama.
