Good Luck Sakhi is the first sports-based movie and the 3rd female-centric movie of the actress, Keerthy Suresh. Directed by the National award-winner, Nagesh Kukunoor, the movie has been released in theaters today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Sakhi Pamar (Keerthy Suresh) is a cool and mischievous girl in the village where everyone treats her as an unlucky girl. Jagapathi Babu is a retired colonel who returns to his hometown to make the best shooters. Sakhi’s childhood friend and popular drama artist Goli Raju (Aadhi Pinishetty) introduces her to the colonel after he came to know the colonel’s plan. Coach impresses with her shooting skills and trains her to make the best shooter. What happened during the training? What made Sakhi anxious during the finals? Did she become the winner? The answers will be known only if you watch the movie on big screens.
Plus Points:
The phenomenal performance of the National award winner, Keerthy Suresh as Sakhi Pamar, is the big asset of the movie. She lived in the character and she looked gorgeous as a village girl. She pulled it off with ease. Her Chittoor dialect is an added advantage. Jagapathi Babu and Aadhi Pinishetty did justice to their roles. Rahul Ramakrishna is also performed well.
Devi Sri Prasad’s wonderful background score makes a few scenes more beautiful and his music played a great role. The cinematography by Chirantan Das is okay. The production values by the producers, Sudheer and Shravya are good.
Minus Points:
Director Nagesh Kukunoor came up with a regular sports drama story. One can expect emotions and, twists and turns in a sports-based film and surprisingly, Good Luck Sakhi lacked such emotional content and there is no strong point that will make audiences sit and watch the movie eagerly. Aadhi Pinishetty’s role has nothing much to perform.
Nagesh Kukunoor failed to make Good Luck Sakhi an engaging sports drama. In addition to the slow-paced narration, the movie has some silly scenes in the second half. The climax, which must be an engaging part, is a big letdown.
Technical Aspects:
This is undoubtedly Nagesh Kukunoor’s weakest movie and he failed to make the sports drama an engaging one. Devi Sri Prasad’s songs and background score are the major highlights of the movie. The cinematography by Chirantan Das is nice. When it comes to editing, there are no flaws and Sreekar Prasad cut the film in a well-manner.
Verdict:
On the whole, Good Luck Sakhi is a slow-paced sports drama that makes you feel bad for Keerthy Suresh. Though the actress delivered her best, it couldn’t help in making the movie a winner. The film has nothing much to offer and even Keerthy couldn’t save it. Good Luck Sakhi failed to hit the bullseye.
